La Dolce Vita in Capri

Wow, Capri. A very last minute trip booked all of 48hours in advance. This is even for me very spontaneous 😉 But often the spontaneous ideas are the best. We had only a few days in Capri but I wanted to make the best of them.

We flew to Neapel and took from there a ferry to Capri. The vacation mood just started when you see in front of you this little beauty called Capri.

We stayed at the beautiful and romantic Villa “Casa Mariantonia” in Anacapri. This gorgeous little place has only 11 rooms but each room is so unique and charming. From the first step into this place you will feel how special it is, don’t comparable to other anonymous hotels.

Every room at Casa Mariantonia has his own terrace.

Please have a look at the beautiful garden with all their citrus groves. I mean how amazing is this. Imagine you have your breakfast with a fresh cup of cappuccino and some fresh pane under this lemon trees. Just mind-blowing.

This hotel has also an direct entry from the hotel lobby to their vino bar. I mean helloooo, who can resist a directly entry to the vino bar ?!? This was such an extra plus ,-) and was just made for us. I think we almost start every night and ended every night at this vino bar. But when in Italy you have to do it like this. Beside this amazing plus, Casa Mariantonia is just beautiful. The location is perfect (just steps away from the centre of Anacapri), the owners are more than hospitably and are more than happy to assist you with their local knowledge. Just a perfect place to escape from your routine at home.

Capri is maybe not know for its beautiful beaches but its still have gorgeous and amazing clear water and a very cool beach club called La Fontalina. When you are in Capri, I would definitely recommend you to visit this cool spot.

You can spend the whole day at this beautiful beach club, laying in the sun and enjoying your sangria of rose wine. Because this beach club has his own restaurant with delicious italian food. A lot of people took the boat taxi to come to this restaurant just because of their food.

Our first dinner in Capri was at the Ristorante da Gelsomina and we couldn’t think of a better start of our Capri trip. This restaurant is just amazing. You will have delicious and traditional italian/Capri cuisine, attentive waiter and one of the best sunsets you could ask for in Capri. All in one a perfect start for our trip.

Another great thing about the restaurant was that they offer a pick up. Mariangela from our hotel was so kind and organized everything.

Now I just want to show you some impressions from our stroll through the little beautiful and most cutest alleys in Capri. You just have to enjoy it 🙂

On my trip to the D-Hotel Maris I had the chance to have a dinner at their new opened Il Riccio restaurant. But the original Il Riccio restaurant is in Capri. So it was no surprise that I absolutely wanted to visit this mind-blowing restaurant. The Il Riccio in Capri is located at the beautiful Capri Palace hotel and has 1 Michelin star.

Their famous dessert room – always worth the sin 🙂

A big surprise was the some of the team members from Capri were the same I met during my trip to the D-Hotel. They were at the D-Hotel to support the local team during the setup. And after their work was done the came back to Capri. So this was a big reunion. A really nice touch was, that the chef in Capri made an exception and made their famous gamba carpaccio which I loved at the D-Hotel Maris even if it was not at the official menu. Sometimes it’s good to reunite with people 😉

Because almost every island is more beautiful from a boat, we thought that Capri would be this especially. So we decided to make a little boat tour around Capri. And to be honest it was one of the best ideas during our trip.

And of course I had to see the famous Blue Grotto which is very easy reachable from a boat. This is a touristic attraction but it is still worth to visit it. The shades of blue in the grotto are just phenomenal.

We had our last dinner at the famous Da Paolina restaurant. The setting is just beautiful, romantic and fairytale. Every single table is located under a lemon tree and all you can see are lemon trees. But to be honest to you, the restaurant is for me more hype than worth it. Don’t misunderstand me. There is nothing wrong about this restaurant, but I’m a real foodie. The setting and the surroundings are also very important but for me is the food the most important part at a restaurant. And the food at the Da Paolina was good but nothing special. Our other dinner locations were a lot of better and when we asked some local people about the Da Paloina they all told us that you could find better food in other restaurant in Capri. If you are a big group or celebrate a birthday or hosting a pre-wedding party this is definitely an amazing place for this because of the fairytale setting. But if you are looking for a great location but with a more delicious and mind-blowing food for dinner, you could find other better spots in Capri.

A lot of people asked me about Capri and if I could tell them how my trip was, what my impressions were etc. If I had to describe Capri in a few words (which is obviously not easy for me 😉 ) I would describe it as the definition of “La dolce Vita“. Just think about the old Sophia Loren and Gina Lollobrigida movies – and this is exactly what you will find in Capri. The pure sense of life. Everything is so cute and tiny in Capri.  And what I especially loved about Capri was that when the day tourist left the island in the afternoon and you made a stroll through Capri and took a seat a the beautiful piazza you could almost hear only italian – the language of love and passion. I love to be surrounded by locals when I am in a foreign country. This means for my holiday. I am sure that I will come back – Arrivederci Capri.
