My favorite hotels in Cape Town

Cape Town Beach

When I started to plan my trip to South Africa I knew that there are a lot of amazing boutique hotels. Just the way I like it: unique, small, luxury and with a very own style. And because of this, it was for me clear that I want to see as many hotels as possible. I knew that it could get a bit stressful to change the hotels, but for me it was worth it (and for you also, because now I can give you a lot of hotel tips 😉 )

So here are my top 3 hotels in Cape Town:

Mannay Bay Hotel

Manna Bay Hotel is luxury boutique guest house in the middle of Cape Town which has one of the best views in town. You have a direct view from your balcony of the Table Mountain – this is unbeatable !!

This amazing hotel has only 8 rooms which all have names like Explorer Room or Orchid Room or Flamingo Room. We stayed at the beautiful and colorful Flamingo room.

I guess you understand why they call the room “Flamingo” room ;-).

Their facilities include a beautiful swimming-pool, free parking, cocktail bar, laundry, wi-fi, a boma (fire pit) area and much more. But these are “normal” amenities. I would like to tell you what special amenities the Manna Bay has to offer:

  • Complimentary airport transfers
  • 24hr Butler service (and they are really 24rs available)
  • Mobile Phone (once you’ve arrived they can provide you with a Mobile Phone and a local SIM Card)
  • GPS navigation for your car
  • Complimentary dinner transfers (no matter where you wanna go out for dinner, just tell them and the Manna Bay chauffeur will take you there)
  • High Afternoon Tea with complimentary drinks, petit-fours, finger food etc.

Of course their breakfast is also very delicious. You can choose from a buffet where you have all kind of fruits, cereals, cheese, etc. or you can choose from a menu hot dishes like Eggs Benedict or French Toast which will all be prepared in the opening kitchen area.

A highlight for me was the above mentioned High Afternoon Tea. Every afternoon they are serving a High Afternoon Tea which includes complimentary drinks, house wine, champagne, petit-fours, finger food, delicious cakes (everything is home made) and much more . I guess I’m coming very close to my bucket list goal “….. to eat and drink as much as possible…. ” 😉

For me, the Mannay Bay hotel doesn’t felt like a hotel. It was more like if you are staying at a friend’s house (of course a very stylish and luxurious friend’s house 😉 ) Every single staff member was so nice and so warm-hearted. They will make your stay very special and unforgettable.

Sea Five Boutique Hotel

If you are looking for a stylish and contemporary boutique hotel, a stone’s throw away from the vibrant Camps Bay, Sea Five Boutique Hotel is your hotel. This hotel is only 300 meters away from Camps Bay where you can do some sunbathing on the beach, eat at one of the delicious restaurants or just relax in a cafe at the beach front road and do some “people-watiching” 😉

Sea Five Hotel offers seven en-suite rooms. All rooms have a private terrace with mountain or sea view. We stayed at the Garden room which was so cozy that it was hard to leave the room. Everything was in beige and nude colors and every single detail fits perfectly into the whole “color room concept”.

The living area of the hotel was also very cozy and stylish. Everything looked a bit like from an “Laura Ashley” magazine but with an african twist. I think it is hard of find a hotel like this in Europe.

The Sea Five Hotel offers also a complimentary High Afternoon Tea. But because we were the whole day “on tour” exploring Cape Town, I unfortunately didn’t had the opportunity to enjoy the High Afternoon Tea. But I am sure that it is same delicious as the breakfast. Their breakfast is a good and healthy way to start your day. You can get everything you want. From cereals to fresh fruit, home made jelly, freshly squeezed juices and of course some hot dishes which you can choose from the menu.

I will definitely miss this oasis just a few meters away from the vibrant and lively Camps Bay. It is a place where you can relax and chill after a busy day in Cape Town.

O on Kloof Boutique Hotel

Last but not least my lovely O on Kloof Boutique Hotel. It is really hard to describe this little “piece of heaven” as a hotel.

Oon-Kloof-Boutique-Hotel

This place is so familiar that you will definitely not feel like at a hotel. The hotel has only 8 rooms (6 rooms and 2 suites). Our room (suite) had the following amenities:

  • Lavazza Espresso machine
  • lounge area with a double couch
  • en-suite bathroom
  • Bose i-Pod docking station
  • and much much more….

The hotel also offers a SPA which I unfortunately didn’t try. But I am sure that it is also very nice.

Oon-Kloof-Boutique-Hotel-Suite

We were lucky enough to get a Suite. But not a “normal” suite. This suite had a private sun drenched patio with sea view and a relaxing Jacuzzi. I think you can call this definitely a “room with a view” 😉

But what stands out in this hotel is the staff and especially their volition to support you in any case of questions and to guarantee you the best stay in Cape Town which you could get. Their hospitality and kindness is just overwhelming. They have a corner with all kind of maps, business cards and information material about Cape Town. But they have even more to offer you when you are asking them. They know so many hot spots and insider tips that it is hard to choose one of their great recommendations.

Oon-Kloof-Boutique-Hotel

The O on Kloof Boutique hotel has also a fantastic location. Because you are in walking distance to the Clifton Beaches where all locals go for sunbathing, surfing or relaxing, but also a short drive away from the famous Camps Bay – more is not possible.

If you are looking for a familiar and chic hotel in a great location where you can get amazing tips for your Cape Town tour (or if you just wanna enjoy the sunset from your own Jacuzzi like I did 😉 ) – you are more than right at the O on Kloof Boutique hotel.
